Hi:
I have a lot of information on the Meadows family from Wilkinson. I have
never been able to find any children listed for Green W. Meadows b. 1793 who
married Susannah Swinney in the census records BUT there are TWO men in
Wilkinson County named Green W. Meadows (don't know how they are related
yet). The other one is listed in the 1820 census and is over 45 years old so
he was born before 1775, this is the census info:
Green W. Meadows has 1 male 10-16: 1 male >45: 1 female 16-18: 1 female
16-26. Since he is over 45 years old in this census there might be other
children who are out of the house.
I have information on several men named James Meadows, do you have any dates
or other information on him? I would be glad to help in any way I can.
Have a great day!
Janet Moore

Dear list members,
I received an email for a distant relative on my MEADOWS line in
Wilkinson County. Her deceased brother received a letter from a historian,
Joseph T. Maddox, stating:
"What I say about James Meadows may not necessarily be so, but recently I
figure due to geological location here in Wilkinson County, James may have
been the son of Green Meadows, born 1793, who was the s/o John and Elizabeth
(Herndon) Meadows. Green's wife was Susannah Swinney, also born 1793. We do
know that the date on Green is correct. Whether or not James was his son, I
cannot establish that. There is a book in existence on the Herndon/Poe
lines that go way back."
Does anyone have any info on this book, or the family of these people?
