>>Does anyone have the name of the wife of: Thomas Garfield, b. c. 1801,
Worcester, Otsego Co., NY. Son of Thomas and Asenath Hill Garfield. My
Great Grandfather, Henry Perry Garfield is the son of this Thomas but I
do not have his mother's name. Thank you so very much,

Hi Donald!
This Henry Perry Garfield, is he the same one you posted about on Aug.
12, 2002 as the father of Charles A. Garfield(1873)?
Regarding your Thomas(1801)
you probably have all this already but just in case.......

pg. 8 & 9
"I. Solomon Garfield (son of Thomas Garfield) came from the town of
Weston, Massachusetts, to Worcester,* Ostego County, New York, where he
spent the latter part of his life, and died about 1807, by an accidental
fall from a beam in his barn. His wife, was a Miss Lucy Brown,
(evidently a mistake. Lucy Garfield, sister of Solomon, married Nathan
Brown of Lincoln.), from Boston or near Boston. Your record says she was
Sarah Stimson. But little was known of Solomon's father's family beyond
one positive and one supposed fact. For a reason you will see it
presently it was known that he had one bother by the name of Abraham. It
was supposed that Solomon's father's name was Thomas.
* Not directly. He removed from Lincoln about 1770 to Westminster,
Massachusetts, where he resided at least until 1788.
II. To Solomon and his wife there were born in Westminster,
Massachusetts, the following children:
1.Thomas, . 1774, d. 1801, Worcester, New York.
2. Solomon
3. Rebecca
4. Hannah
5. Lucy
III. Thomas arfield (1 above) married Asenath Hill of Scholarie County,
New York, who was born 1778. To them were born in Worcester, New York,
Chrildren:
1. Polly, b. 1795
2. Betsey, b. 1797
3. Abraham, b. 1799, Dec. 28, and died in Orange, Cuyahoga County, Ohio,
May 3, 1833. He was the presidents father.
4. Thomas, b. 1801, Nov. 19.
Of this family all are dead except Thomas, the youngest, who resides in
Newburgh, near Cleveland, Ohio, and has a large family."
As far as the name of the wife of your Thomas, #4 above, I have none
listed, but a good bet might be her last name was "PERRY", since Henry's
middle name was Perry and our branch is currently working on a "PERRY"
connection also.
Would love to hear more about your family!
~Chrissy~
