The Henry County Weekly
The Elliott families and their family connections, the largest perhaps in
Middle Georgia, amounting to upwards of 2,500 souls, will hold a reunion at
Shingleroof Campground on Wednesday, 19th, of September 1923. Basket dinner
will be served on the grounds.
About one hundred years ago Mrs. George Elliott, of Morgan county,
accompanied by her four sons and five daughters: Robert, John, James and Hiram,
Mary, Jane, Margarett came to Henry county and settled 1 1/2 miles from
Shingleroof Camp Ground. These sons and daughters reared large families whose
descendants have intermarried into the best families of Henry, Clayton and
adjoining counties.
The relatives of John Elliott, Robert Elliott, Jimmie Elliott and Hiram
Elliott and Pollie Green, Jennie Thompson, Peggy Partin, Nancy Morrow and Eliza
Morrow are cordially invited to attend this reunion.
We desire to have a grandson of each of the above families added to the
standing committee that has already been appointed and published. The following
names have been added to this committee, and others will be later named:
Jonce Elliott
W. B. Kelley
J. P. Thompson
T. C. Kelley
W. H. Bryans Jr.
J. M. Green
J. H. Johnson and wife
E. M. Copeland
E. G. Cowan
F. C. Harper
J. R. Green
Mrs. W. L. Glass
Miss Lila Copeland
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Russell
Ann Partin
Each one of this committee is requested to write to their relatives who
have moved away from here and invite them to come.
Not only the relatives are invited to come to this reunion but all who
would like to come and enjoy the day with us.
Every body is cordially invited to come and bring well filled baskets.
B. S. Elliott, Committee Chairman
Additional Comments:
Paragraph two states that there were five daughters, but only lists three.
