Karen, I think I found our gang on the ship "General Mclelland" landing at Castlegarden in NYC in Mar.1864 with perhaps some cousins as well. The time frame and the names and ages of the kids and Mrs. G seem to fit and Castle Garden is in the family lore. Ggrandfathr James doesnt appear to be on board (unless his age is listed wrong).
Despite living in Glasgow they leave from Liverpool.
