CHARLES N. SQUIRES
Springfield, IL

Charles N. Squires, a resident of Springfield since 1958 died at 4:15 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at St. John's Hospital, age 82. He was born Aug. 7,
1921, in Marietta, Ga., the son of Robert and Dura Barnes Squires. He married
Eunice Klingemann Nov. 27, 1943, at St. Matthews Church in St. Louis. Two
granddaughters preceded him in death.
Mr. Squires was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving
with the 101st Airborne Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He worked for the Western
Association of Railroads as a traveling auditor for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice; four daughters, Pam (husband, Jim) Wells of
Pawnee, Karen Trask of Loganville, Ga., Linda Squires of Springfield and Nancy
(husband, Bruce) Shutt of Glenarm; a son, Robert (wife, Jane) Squires of
Springfield; six grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Snyder of Tennessee.
Remains are at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 201 S. Main, Route 4, Chatham, where
friends may call from 5-7 p.m. today.
Services will be there at 11:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. John Miller
officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where
Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
Memorials may be made to South Side Christian Church, 2600 S. MacArthur Blvd.,
Springfield, IL 62704
