Hello All
For many years now I have been trying to discover/prove the parents of my Grandfather, Morton Cross, who was born in Ringgold, GA, in 1984. His father was called Henry Cross but I have never been able to find him--did find a fellow named Wm. Henry Harrison Cross in a different county but haven't been able to track him to a place where I can prove him as my great grandfather. Story has it Henry married Elizabeth Maxwell but by 1891 both of them had died and Grandpa was an orphan at age 7. He went to live with Amanda Maxwell who he referred to as his aunt. I have found her, I believe, in the household of Emmerson Maxwell--the problem is that there isn't a sister named Elizabeth! I am sure that Grandpa had siblings but I don't even have their names. Grandpa always said the past had past and he found no joy in talking about it...
Anyway, if any of you are researching either the Cross or Maxwells, I'd love to hear from you--or if any of you have any information or know of good places to search for them, I'd be very happy to hear from you!
