Thanks so much for trying to help. Poindexter was born Sept. 2, 1851 (family
Bible and death certificate) in Hanover county, VA (death certificate) or
Richmond, VA (family Bible). He died May 6, 1921 in Asheville, NC. He moved to
Asheville about 1918 -- he shows up in the City Directory for the first time
in 1919. In the family Bible it says his father was James Monroe Carter. On
Ancestry I found a fellow, Nelson Rodgers, who posted some info about him but
his email address does not work now. My conjecture is that he moved to
Asheville because his youngest daughter, Virginia, had Tb. At that time it was
common for folks to move here for what they thought was the good air and knowledge
of Tb management. She died in 1933 from pneumonia related to Tb. Poindexter,
his wife and Virginia are buried in Greensboro, GA. in a plot with the King
family. Sandy

There are over 2200 Carters in GA in 1910 and none under
Poindexter (with this spelling). The ones in Grene County
did not match the info you gave. There are over 900 in NC
in 1910 and none in Buncombe that match Poindexter. Can
you give me a birthdate and/or birth state? The Index is
for the head of household only, so can't search under
Corinna.
