Does anyone have any information on this GA Civil War unit?

GEORGIA 8TH CAVALRY BATTALION (State Guards) - specifically Unit "D"

The master GA Soldiers index lists a John S. Coggin as a member and I am
trying to determine if it is this same John S. Coggin of Pike Co., GA:
