It could have been a researcher who was related. I recently
replaced one for my husband's great-great grandmother. She
had a flat field stone with cursive carving that was only
legible when the stone was wet. My husband's fondest wish
was to replace her headstone. His health prevented him from
carrying through. My husband died the last day of February.
His marker was in place in late April. I ordered one for his
great great grandmother. I wanted to do it for my husband.
It was installed July 18th. I went to see it the next day.
It meant so much to me to see that headstone that my husband
had wanted that I stood alone in the cemetery and cried.
Perhaps a similar reason prompted the replacement of your
stone. I hope there are others who will do the same.
