Quoting directly from the "Georgia's 1832 Gold Lottery"...and the person or
persons takin in names as aforesaid shall administer to all applicants for
draws under this at, other than widows, guardians or next friend of orphans
the following oath: viz, ...that I did not directly or indirectly evade the
service of this State or the united States in the Revolutionary War, or in
the late wars against Great Britain (War of 1812) or the Indians." They also
had to swear that they were citizens of the United States. If widows or
orphans they had to swear that the person fought for the United States. Also
had to be a resident of GA for 3 yrs.
