The following information came to me (Jenny LaMore) from Geneva B. Jennings,
921 Brushy Valley Rd., Powell, TN 37849 in January 30, 1995. She says: Her
mother was Cora French Blazier (1890-1966), b. in Knox Co, TN and land first
owned by her gr-grandfather, Peter French I and wife Rosanna who came from
Botetourt Co, VA in 1812 with 5 or so children. Their youngest son was
named Peter French (1805-1896) and he and wife Malinda A/Ellison French
(1812-1896) had many children.
Their first was Leonidas (Lee) who left Knox Co, TN in the mid 1800's to go
to Kansas. He probably went to MO but many descendants live in KS. His
granddaughter is Ethel French Wilmeth in Mulvane, KS.
The family was Meth. and organized New Salem Meth., one of the oldest Knox
Co churches.
A great-grandson of Leonidas French is Norman Payne in Winfield, KS.
Geneva descends from Lee's baby brother, James Peter French. (1855-1944).


Also connected to this same French family is E. A. Houser, Jr., 10201
Grosvenor Pl, Apt 901, Rockville, MD 20852. He founded and published
"Houser Hunters". Corr. in 1982.

Salem.

"Betsy" Houser on 4 Aug. 1818 in Knox.
Michael, b 19 Sept, 1799 in VA; d. 3 Mar, 1867 in Knox; bur. New Salem;
marr. Dorothy Pauline Kountz
Jacob, (twin to Michael) d 12 Jan. 1882; b. New Salem; marr Sarah Kountz
(twin of Dorothy P.).
Peter, Jr., b. 16 Oct. 1805 in VA; d. 4 Feb, 1896 in Knox; b. New Salem;
marr Malinda Ellison 19 Dec, 1827 in Knox.
daughter, b. ca 1800; single in 1840
daughter, b. ca 1810-15; single in 1840.
