Thanks for all your comments but I would like to point out that the repeated
posts are not fixed by me deleting anything and are not caused by Gmail.
It is caused by hitting REPLY or REPLY ALL to answer a post instead of
clicking on this link that appears at the end.

If you click this link then you open a new e-mail that is clean. You can
then copy and paste a small portion of a previous e-mail if it is really
necessary which most likely it is not.

I will try to do my part in not clogging up the archives with repeats and I
guess that is all I can do but I don't like the implication that somehow the
repeats are actually my own doing. I have not clogged the list. That is
just deflecting the responsibility of everyone to do their part in
practicing proper e-mail etiquette.
