Jean, we believe so, but are keeping an open mind pending documentation.
We have but one connection left to document.
The name of that possible connection was Jackson Middleton Rutledge. If we nail that guy, we virtually, by long odds alone, got it.
Yet it seems that all 900 of us related cousins don't really care which of the Rutledge lines in America we belong to......we are just into documentation and let facts fall where they may.
But like the Grahams, the Rutledges/Routledges/Ruttledges/de Rutledges, in 1600 were all found only in one place on earth, 3 miles south of the Anglo Scot border. Since they lived together for 400 or more years, we can assume nearly 100% that they were all related.
DNA to an overall degree of 93% so far certainly supports what we believe.
More recently, DNA of Rutledges in South Carolina, or known to be from South Carolina, matches closely in 97% of the cases with DNA from the Rutledges of Tennessee and Missouri.
But with a plus or minus small degree of certainty, anything else is possible.
Adoptions are notorious for trashing DNA trends, so must always be taken into account.
The last known Rutledge in our line was a brother of my Great Grandmother Chelnessie Matrina Rutledge Owen.
Well, I said too much, with too little facts.

Don
Was your Rutledges related to the ones who signed the Declaration of
Independence?
