Hi Julie,
Quebec was a major port for immigrants to Canada. The vast majority of people then travelled on to Montreal, Toronto and other destinations across Canada.
If you have a possible date for Daniel's departure from England (May 1913)you are well on your way. Try to locate passenger lists for ships departing England that month. Try searching for an online index or find a source in England. I think I've seen something on the National Archives site. Alternatively, try to find lists of ship passengers arriving in Canada. The National Archives of Canada have these on microfilm and there are people who are trying to transcribe them and post them to the internet. A Google search may help you locate them or someone who would do a look up for you. I have records for both my grandfathers (one was a Ewing) arriving in Canada. They show where they were heading after disembarking in Quebec and the type of work they did.
If Daniel Ewing(s) remained in Canada, one of the provinces should have a record of his death. British Columbia has an online index but there was no record of a Daniel Ewing(s). http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-6C3213/gsearch/Births,Marriages,Colmarriages,Deaths,Baptisms#form
Try Cyndislist.com for links to provincial records in Canada.
Many immigrants settled in Ontario. The Ontario Genealogical Society website has an index to cemeteries at
http://ogs.andornot.com/CemeteryIndex.aspx
There is a D. Ewing listed, no date of death. It might be worth pursuing. Perhaps you can find a kind soul on an Ontario mailing list who will do a look up for you.
Many other genealogy groups in other provinces are compiling cemetery records. Again, Cyndislist is an amazing source of links to these groups.
If Daniel travelled south to the US you might find a record in the US Social Security list. The deaths of recipients are indexed and include birth year, place of residence at death and name of spouse.
Hope some of this is helpful. Good luck with your search.
Margaret
