Fred Esworthy, 73, of 2705 E. Main St., died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan.
30, 1963) at St. Elizabeth Hospital 12 hours after being admitted. He had
resided at the Main St. address 12 years.
Born March 8, 1889, at Collison, he was a son of Thomas and Mary
Thornsbrough Esworthy. He farmed in his early life and later was a livestock buyer in
the area and an auto salesman.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel, whom he married April 8, 1939; a son, Earl of
Bryan, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Pruitt of Caro, Mich.; and a sister,
Mrs. Elizabeth Battershell of Rossville.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother and a sister.
His hobbies were basketball and horse racing.
The body is at the Barrick & Son Funeral Home where friends will be received
7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday
at the funeral home, with the rev. Don C. Goodwine officiating. Burial will
be in Potomac Cemetery.
