Subject: [Ess] 1841 and 1851 lookups for AYLETT?
Date: Sun, 5 Feb 2012 21:31:54 +0000

Might someone help me by looking up the following people?

I'm after a William Aylett, born around 1797 and an auctioneer, probably in Shoreditch, and his son Edward Charles Aylett, possibly born around 1831 in Camberwell. I have an 1841 listing and it looks from this as if William might be with a wife Sarah, and Edward Charles might - oddly - be in Chelsea and not with his family.

However, to confuse matters, I have later census evidence for a William of the same vintage and also from north London married to a Martha, and a third William also of similar age and from North London, married to a Jane. I can't see the two latter in my 1841 index so sightings in 1851 would be really useful. I'd really like to know which of these three Williams was the auctioneer since I do know that Edward Charles Aylett's father was called William and was an auctioneer.

Very grateful if anyone is able to help..

Ruth
