Between 1526 and 1621, the churchwardens of the parish church of Great Dunmow, Essex, England wrote their yearly income and expenditure within their churchwardens’ account-book. Along with the church’s finances, the churchwardens’ accounts also contains several lists of the names of all the heads-of-houses for every house within the parish. Names include Sturton, Walton, Wree, Kynwelmarshe, Parker, Loveday, Melbourne, Ramsold, Bemish, Savage, Dottrich, and Hunwick. My website, www.essexvoicespast.com, is a blog where I will be uploading digital images of the account book, along with my transcription of the pages and my commentary on Tudor events within the parish.
