Then a while afterwards found her birth certificate which said Ellen as her Christian name ,so back i went to put it right
And this is what i was told
Once it was in the registry it could not be changed ,but in the margin would be wrote ,error ,wrong information given then the correct name written down .

This is the area in which you usually see a diagonal line in (or beyond) the last column. If there are no amendments to the information then the diagonal line is there.
If information has been changed, it is written beside the entry and when you apply for a copy certificate the changed info is provided instead of the diagonal line.
