My great great grandfather was Thomas Howard, a wheelwright and post master
who lived in Inworth and Tiptree, not far from Tollesbury. He was born on
the Isle of Sheppy sometime between 1808 and 1819 - he claimed to be
different ages at different times. I've always suspected that Thomas was
related to John Howard, a Maldon shipbuilder, though I've never been able to
prove this.
