Yes Dawn. What happened to one of my family members was that he left
a wife and children in England and came to Australia with another
woman and had another family. I understand it happened quite often.
The lure of a new life in another country many miles away!

I think I have found a man having married twice but to different
woman
and he was still married to the first wife.

I think the first woman changed her name on the 1891 census.
