Thank you Diana

I am particularly annoyed with those who have put the death certificate for my grt/grt/grandmother onto others of the same name and county. I even have the birth date, baptism and town of birth plus parents for her. When of course they took the certificate, the citation went with it. I hold the certificate in her married name, and many others for that family. Genuine researchers don't need to do things that way.

I had this problem too Pam and recently wrote to to ask if they could do anything
as the person who 'took' all my information and wrongly added it to their own tree refused to
delete it even though I wrote and politely asked her to, explaining where she had made the mistake,
backing up my facts with source documents etc.. However she was most rude to me, and sadly,
Ancestry said they knew it happened but their policy was to do nothing about it. I now keep only
a skeletal tree on Ancestry to hopefully attract others researching the same names, and my main
tree I open to no one unless I am certain they are family and genuine.

You can also make your tree Private with or without it appearing when
someone does a search. I did this for a while as so many people were
taking my info and attaching it to someone in their tree who was not
the same person. I guess there are some who will always just grab a
name and claim it as their own.
