I have been searching (on the Internet) for some years now for the parents
of this gent who is my 3rd Great Grandfather. In a Record of Birth of a son
he gave place and estimated place of birth.
His first son was named John, his second James William, the third William
and the fourth Joseph.
Searching the IGI and SEAX causes me to believe that the family must have
been Non Conformist and I cannot get to The Essex Record Office to view
A witness to John's wedding here in Melbourne, Victoria was a James Clark
who had also just arrived in the search for Gold. I believe him to be John's
The IGI gives me a John James Clark b. 1797 who would have been say 23 years
of age at the time of the birth of my John. The father of John James Clark
was a William Clark.
Some speculation, yes, but it would stick it together a little bit if I
could find the marriage of a John James Clark around say 1819 and the
subsequent christening of his children.
Any comment or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
