Subject: [Ess] Epidemic (?) in 1856?
Date: Thu, 29 Oct 2009 23:59:29 +0000
I have a number of burials my undertaker whose records I'm working on carried out at Hempstead in late 1856, nearly all of which were paid for by the "parish" (this would have actually been the Poor Law Union, but there seems to have been some local organisation at a parish level behind it).
Has anyone come across a recorded epidemic in NW Essex in 1856, or was it just a local mortality crisis?
Many thanks,
Adrian
