A recent message to the Essex list quoted a link between some River
Colne/Mersea villages and Shoreham in Sussex and the list enquirer asked
why?
I have a similar occurrence East Donyland and Bursledon on the Hamble River
(anyone remember Howard's Way?). The connection here was boat building and
several people moved from East Donyland and then became involved in not only
boat building but moving onto to sea planes, Wartime Aircraft and basing
themselves on the Solent.
Question I have for the List is does anyone have any ancestors who had East
Donyland/ Bursledon connections?
(Cranfield/Wilkins/Taylor/Watson/Springett?). I believe that it may have
been that some East Donyland folks may have had a connection to Moody's
Boatyard, used as the centerpiece of Howards Way .
Could this be a suggestion for a List Administrators theme? Essex villages
Twinned with other places in Britain? It could certainly help with tracing
family history.
