Looking again at the description of the Maldon one I quoted, I am not sure it is necessary for any
of the staff at the ERO to know which pages are on which image.
"Scope and Content Indexes of BAPTISMS 1695-1841, MARRIAGES 1754-1836
(at end reversed), and BURIALS 1750-1838. Shows full names and page
references to original registers. Each register is indexed separately,
with names shown in their original order within each letter of the
alphabet. Originals Location For original registers see D/P 201/1/2,
4-7, 11 (BAPTISMS), D/P 201/1/9-10, 13 (MARRIAGES), and D/P 201/1/5,
8, 10, 12 (BURIALS). Date From1813 Date To1850"
If this particular record were digitized and uploaded, it would be simpler for me to search this for
all references to a particular name, and then go to the appropriate register and find the right
page, than to "turn" the pages of the register searching for a name, which means waiting for each
page image in turn to download and open. Even at 5mb/s this is quite a time-consuming process: I
shussder to think of the time for those on dial-up.
Regards
John.
