Mike and I have got to the root of the issue - the website's designated
page width is 1024 pixels, unlike many commercial websites which still
use only 800 pixels. Whenever a website is viewed in a browser window
wider than these figures, space filling or repositioning of floating
page elements fills up either side. If the browser window is narrower
than these widths, it produces horizontal scroll bars and one side or
the other of the webpage 'disappears' behind the left or right hand edge
of the browser window.

Of course, if you've set your browser up so that no scroll bar appears
in normal use, i.e. when viewing most commercial 800 pixel wide
websites, then you'll be surprised when you look at a website with a
wider fixed minimum width and some of it gets lost behind the edge of
your browser window.

Mike

The Essex On- Line Parish Clerks site has been designed with Firefox as
a principal browser (my choice as webmaster) so whatever you are seeing
is not a Firefox problem. If I understand your question correctly it is

simply a case of a different underlying template being used for the
database pages. I chose to do this to allow a database menu column on
the left and sufficient space on the right to display the data tables.
