Does anyone on the list know what The Garth, Great Easton was in 1897 or exactly where it was? It was given as the place of birth for the illegitimate son of Annie Clements from Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. George was later sent to Canada as a Home Child by the Guardians of Bishop Stortford Workhouse so it seems strange that he should have been born in Essex. Annie is given as a pupil teacher.
