1861 Census:
James CLARKE (Born abt 1817 in Great Coggeshall) - Master on vessel "James
Margaret"!!!! - in Hampshire waters.
Also on the vessel was James CLARKE (born 1856 in East Donyland, Essex) who
must be his son presumably.
There is a death of a James CLARKE in September quarter of 1880 in Lexden
district (Ref: 4a/253).
Also spotted on the Ancestry website, somebody has posted details of James
(senior's) ancesters, siblings, etc, living in Coggeshall.
Regards,
Howard Dale

Subject: [Ess] Hepzibah E Clarke- 1861 /1871 Census
Dear All
Hepzibah E Clarke b circa 1859- my gt grandmother
May I ask if there is a Census Reference to Hepzibah (Erner) Clarke in the
1861 census or 1871 Census, possible in or around Colchester or a River
Colne village.
I am keen to attempt to find out why Erner as a middle name and also who her
parents were. If identified does the Census give her parents birthplaces?
Parents may be James and Margaret, but I am not 100% sure.
Many thanks
Graham Taylor
