Hi Robert
I expect you have this 1891 census information but just in case this is what
I found.
No.9 Markhouse Road Walthamstow
Herbert White head 30 house Decorator
Sarah White wife
Joseph Swain wife's brother 28 Carpenter
Samuel S. Swain ditto 22 house decorator
All are shown to have been born at Maidstone Kent
The ref. for this entry is RG12 piece 1354 folio 38 page 2
The 1891 shows Herbert White and Sarah again living in Pretoria Avenue,
which is not far from Markhouse Road, Walthamstow, along with just Joseph
Swain as a boarder aged 30 Carpenter and Joinse born Maidstone Kent.
Ref. RG13 piece 1633 folio 99 page 2
Ref RG13 piece 174 folio 110 page 16 of the 1901 census shows living in
Islington London.
Samuel Swain marr. 32 Painter & Paper Hanger born Maidstone
Frances Swain wife 27 born Pemb. (Pembrokeshire but can't make out the
place name).
Birtie son 8mths born Highbury London.
Could this be the same Samuel as you are looking for but with a second wife?
Regards
Jenny DeAngelis
Spain.
