I am trying to help a Canadian lady trace her English roots.

Her birth name was Berry and she was born in 1933 at Kingswood, Whipps Cross
which she believes was a home for unmarried mothers. She was adopted at the
age of 3 weeks and the family emigrated to Canada in 1948.

I wonder whether anyone on the list can help with information about this
home? Am I right in assuming that it would have been privately owned and
that no records would have survived?

If anyone is researching the Berry family who may have lived in Leytonstone
and would like to contact me privately I have more information that I would
prefer not to post.

Charlie Hooper, a relative of her adoptive parents, is believed to have
worked at the home and later became a shoemaker - I wonder whether anyone
can help with information about him.

Many thanks
