I wonder if it's an Essex-dialect variant of HORNER?

I am trying to find out any information on the Awner surname, I
believe an Elizabeth Awner married into my Willis family in
Wethersfield in 1738 but cannot find any reference to the name
anywhere - has anyone else come across it at all? It is not on
one-name.org in that form.
Regards, Gwyn
