As Co-coordinator of Harlow's Referendum Campaign against the iniquitous
Lisbon Treaty, I'm interested in the history of Referendums in Essex prior
to the alleged European Common Market Referendums which of 30 or 40 years
ago, yet can't find much information.

My dictionary states that Referendum is a 19th century term. I wonder if
anyone might know if there were there any 19th century referendums in Essex?

Many thanks for any help that anyone can give with this.

Colleen
