HI Ron,
Looking at the 1881 census entry that you mention, reference RG11 piece
1809
folio 28 page 20 shows Flora Perry aged 9 living with grandparents Joseph
and Emma Perry, Joseph is aged 72 and Emma 40, their children aged Joseph
23, Arthur 21, Frederick 11 over the page, Folio 29 page21, are sons
Charles
8 and Frank 4
In the house above is also a Frederick Perry aged 8 living with his
grandparents Thomas and Ann Urwin who have a son Thomas aged 23. I
wonder if Frederick is a brother to Flora but staying with his maternal
granparents while Flora is perhaps with her Paternal Grandparents.
I found in the 1871 Joseph and Emma Perry with ref. RG10 piee 1695 folio 29
page 21 living at Witham with their children. Joseph is a Green Grocer
aged
62 Emma his wife is aged 38. The children area called Joseph 14, Arthur
11, Lilian 8, Ellen and Frederick 4. Living nearby is the family of Thomas
Urwin aged 47 wife Amelia aged 54, they have 2 sons Thomas & Henry and
living with them is grandson George Perry aged 12. Again there is that
connection between the Urwins and the Perry family.
In the 1861 census Joseph 52 and Emma Perry 29, they have a duaghter Jane
10, Edward 9, william 7, Joseph 4 and Arthur C. 1.
Also in 1861 is an older Joseph Perry with wife Mary Ann living in Maldon
road Witham where the above Joseph Perry and family are living. This older
Joseph is a Basket Maker aged 80, Mary aAnn 77, Grandchildren Alfred
U/A(?)
aged 26, Elizabeth 13, Mahala(?) 12. Elizabeth was born Richmond Surrey
and Mahala born Middlesed/London. the ref. for this entry is RG9 piece 1107
folio 59 page 20. Could this older Joseph be the father of the 52 yr.
old
Joseph above?
The parish church of Witham is St. Nicholas and the LDS have the parish
registers on films for years 1650-1969, there may be gaps of years on the
films.
If you go to the familysearch site of the LDS and search their family
history library catalogue making a place search for Witham part of Essex
then select ChurchRecords you will get up a short list of results. Select
the Parish Church of Witham and go forward using the link int he top right
corner of the screen Veiw Film Notes, this will give you the relevant film
numbers to order the film by for a small fee. To find the address of your
nearest LDS centre go back the home page of the familysearch site where
there is a section on finding such addresses.
It is well worth ordering LDS films because you can get to see not only
baptism but marriages and burials too and help to peice families of the
same
surname together. You could fill out your tree of Perrys for the cost of
one of these films, about 5GBP or so for a months hire.

If SKS has access to the Witham PRs I would appreciate a look up for the
birth of Flora Perry born circa 1872 and Frank Perry born circa 1877. I
would like to know their parents.
In the 1881 census Flora was 9 years old born Witham living with her
grandparents in Witham and 1901 census shows Frank aged 24 born Witham as a
visitor with a family in West Ham.
Thank you in advance.
Ron Perry
