Subject: [Ess] Death Certificate
Date: Sun, 6 May 2007 10:25:24 +1200

Evening All,
Have just received the death cert for my ggg-grandad George Alexander
died- 24th May 1846 Goldhanger
age 64 & half
occupation- Sheep Dresser?
cause of death-Not Certified
a Sarah Champion made her mark,Goldhanger
registered- 30th May 1846.
My Questions
1. How is it possible for a death certificate to be issued without certification of a medical practitioner
2. Is it unusual for 6 days to pass between death and registration.
3. What is a Sheep Dresser
4. Age is correct almost to the day so who is the informant, wife and daughters were at home with George in the 1841 census
census 1851 neither Sarah his wife or Sarah his daughter had married to a Champion and were still resident at Chapel St,
Goldhanger.
Would appreciate any advice and your thoughts.
Thank you Marion N.Z.
