Hello,
My name is Ron Hamilton and I live in Woodley, Cheshire. I am looking for help in tracing the family of the following people:
1881 Census
Dwelling: 9 Nelson St
Census Place: West Ham, Essex, England
Source: FHL Film 1341410 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 1715 Folio 37 Page 19
Marr Age Sex Birthplace
Dedrich E. GLEISTEIN M 37 M born Germany--#
Rel: Head
Occ: Sugar Baker
Maria GLEISTEIN M 30 F born Germany--#
Rel: Wife
George D. GLEISTEIN 5 M London, Middlesex, England
Rel: Son
Maria GLEISTEIN 2 F Plaistow, Essex, England
Rel: Daur
In other censuses Dedrich becomes George and by 1901 he is a dressmaker, self-employed and a British subject. His wife was previously Maria Meissner and here are their marriage details:
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Dec 1873
Gleistein George Didrich Whitechapel 1c 884
Meissner Maria Whitechapel 1c 884
I am looking for their birth places and parents and siblings if anyone can assist me, please. Plus, assistance in locating their entry into England. I am not related to this family line. My search is on behalf of a very good friend of mine, Geoffrey Griffiths. Dedrich is Geoff's great grandfather. Maria born 1879 married Roland Walter Brewer in London in 1911. Their daughter, Frederica Maria Fanny Brewer married Edward John Griffiths in 1937, also in London. These last two are Geoff's parents.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Geoff Griffiths and Ron Hamilton.
