Dear Mr Mott,
Many handcuffs were made by Messrs Hiatts of Birmingham and I believe that
they are still trading and have a museum or collection.

Subject: [Ess] First World War Military Equipment
I have been given a set of handcuffs which I believe were issued to my
Grandfather whilst serving in the Royal Army Service Corps during the First
World War. They have some markings and I would like to see if I can confirm
they were military issue as he also later served in the Millwall Dock Police
and the London Metropolitan Police. Does anyone know of a site where I
could have the details checked to confirm who issued them? I would be
grateful for any help with this.
