If George was actually married in 1925, then when he married in 1949 his
'Condition' in column 4 of the certificate should say something like "the
divorced former husband of . . . ." unless she had died, in which case it
would say he was a widower. Otherwise, and if she were still alive, he was
committing bigamy. Do you have the 1949 certificate?
I would have though his service records might have included details of his
wife as his next of kin.
And if you go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk you could search for the
original marriage and get the details for a charge of six pounds And within
the same fee you might well also find details of the daughter.
