Hello Sue

The definitive explanation is in Mike Foster's "Comedy of Errors", but
essentially the GRO indexes (and FreeBMD / Ancestry) should contain the
surnames prior to marriage of the parties concerned i.e. John Smith and Mary
Jones will both be listed under the same district and page, NOT John Smith
and Mary Smith.
