While on the subject of Millers, I have a Benjamin CHAPMAN occ miller. He
was born in Elsingham in 1802 and was in Stanstead Mountfitchet in 1841 and
Linton in 1851. He died in Broomfield in 1861 just before the census.
While on a visit to Linton a few years ago I was told of an old mill down a
road called Long Lane that was nearby. On going there we saw a house with
imposing gates on which was written Windmill House. At the back of the
property was a mill with all the out buildings but minus the sails.
Unfortunately no one was at home and I have been unable to find an address
for the house. Any ideas please.
Regards
Denise
