I have a novel about Essex,
it is called "Mistress of Broad Marsh" by Alfred Ludgater. A Romance of Old Essex.
Principal Place Names are:
Beame Hall =Barn Hall
Canford = Chelmsford.
Colborough = Colchester
Danecourt = Old Hall
Danstowe = Salcott
Donport = Malden
Norbury Chase = Tolleshunt D'Arcy
The Heath = Tiptree
The Island = Mersea
Tolthorpe = Tollesbury
Wigdon = Wigborough
This was given to me by an employee of Wilkin & Son, and he told me one of the Wilkin family tried to buy up all the copy's.!!!
