I'm very new to research in West Ham and know very little about the area and was hoping that someone here may know a little of the history of street names in the area.

I've found a family at 6 Queen's Terrace, Forty Acre Lane on the 1881 census and I've also located another family (possibly the same) at 109 Forty Acre Lane on the 1891 census.

Were the addresses of Forty Acre Lane changed between 1881 and 1891 so that they were all numbered?

I'm trying to locate the address of 6 Queen's Terrace, Forty Acre Lane on the 1891 census and I'm not sure if 109 Forty Acre Lane is the same house. Apart from the family I've found none of the other families are the same so it's hard for me to be sure if both addresses refer to the same house.

I've tried to look at the gendocs website which had a great list of old London street names but the website seems to no longer exist.

Can anyone answer my question or point me in the right direction for locating more information?

Thanks
Alison
