My husband's gt gt grandfather was Joseph HOLDGATE who I *believe* I have on the 1851/1861 census, place of birth Stratford Essex ca 1784/1788 ( Death cert and ages on census are as usual slightly conflicting).

However when I checked the Family History Library Catalogue there was only BTs noted which started at 1834. Has anyone searched the Stratford PRs /BTs ? If so, was there anything earlier than the 1834 date?
