One additional point which i have not seen mentioned is how do you cross
reference the hard copies to your genealogy program, and how do you find the
document you need.

I number each document I file and this reference is recorded in the
genealogy program in the source record. I keep an index using a spreadsheet.

I file the documents under family names in lever arch files in date of event
order.
