No sign of Louis in my book of Essex photographers, or in quite a few Essex
directories I have - or the 1901 census as far as I can see.

However, I have had one bit of luck with him. Had a look at my postcard
collection and I've two postcards by L Slaughter of Dainties, High Street,
Wivenhoe. One was posted in 1925. Both cards appear to me to date from
around 1910 to 1920s. Would that fit with the possible date range for the
Slaughter card you have?

Best wishes,

Colleen
