Subject: prisoner ancestor - help plse
Date: Thu, 18 May 2006 16:00:17 +0100
I have an ancestor, Oscar STAMFORD who, so says family legend, got drunk one
day and hit his wife over the head with a cricket bat, and hurt her so much
he was imprisoned.
Oscar was born in Stratford Essex in 1868, and married to Elizabeth, and
lived, at the time of the 1881 census, at 37 Langthorn St, West Ham Essex.
Does any lister have any idea how I can find court or prison records to
check this story out?
Any suggestions to send me in the right directions, gratefully accepted
