Settlement certificates, removal orders and examinations in Hertfordshire
have been
published in book form, or at least as indexes with quite a lot of info, and
there may be some Essex people in there. The record office at Hertford would
be able to tell you - they have them on sale in their shop.
In Essex the settlements are on fiche form recorded by the Essex Society for
Family History.
The docs going online at present, referred to, include settlement material
for Saffron Walden - the full digital copy, not just an index. This is part
of the agreement made with Saffron Walden to deposit their town archives in
the ERO in return for digital copies. It is going to be a huge task, but the
first tranche is online now.
What I haven't discovered is how to print off these docs - does anybody
know? It doesn't seem possible to zoom in and reduce them in size for
printing, so only one corner appears on the printout. Grateful for
suggestions on this.
Jacky
