Hello,
I have also found this sort of thing. For example, on the 1881 Census, all
the children are listed as having been born in Sudbury, Suffolk, whereas
according to their birth certificates, most were born in Colchester, Essex
and one in Braintree, Essex. However, Sudbury was the birthplace of the
mother, so perhaps (either through forgetfulness, or a desire to get the
task done as quickly as possible) she put her own birthplace for each of the
children. The best way to be certain would be to get the birth
certificates.
As to the significance of "St Leonard's Lodge", I don't think it would be
possible to give a definite answer without more information, and maybe not
even then. It might refer to a nearby church, or the house might have been
named after the seaside town of St Leonards in Sussex.
