Sorting through some old Essex Countryside magazines and a reader's letter
in a 1962 magazine about Lucy seemed worth posting on Essex list.

Lucy's grave stone in Stanway simply states 'In Memory of Lucy Miles who
died April 20 1887 aged 84 years. My flesh shall rest in hope.'

However the letter adds that Lucy was a farmer who took her father's place
when he died. She farmed well and rode about on a fat white pony. Now that's
what I call an Essex girl.
