Hi there,

Does anyone know anything about:

St James House/Home, Halstead.

On the 1861 census, Ecclesiastical district of St
James,page 8, there is an entry for the above
establishment.

Residents include teachers, servants, boarders and
scholars. The occupation of the 'head' seems to be
'Lady Superintendent' this is then crossed out and it
reads "? (can't read it) of establishment for training
? (can't read it)."

My great grandmother, Hannah HARVEY, aged 15 is listed
as a 'servant' there and I would love to find out more
about St.James.
