The Sutton Arms (see <
http://rootsgen.com/essexpubs/LittleHallingbury/sutton.htm > for a photo) is
opposite Little Hallingbury Hall, map reference TL50941626. (enter map ref.
into < www.multimap.com >, zoom in and look at the Aerial View or follow
this link

would be Sutton Green. This is in Essex not Hertfordshire (it is east of
the River Stort.)

The co-ordinates for the Sutton Arms on < www.old-maps.co.uk > are
550940,216260. Comparing the old OS map with a modern one (OS Explorer
183,) it is easy to see that there are a number of ponds in and around the
area that would have been the green. (Comparing the Aerial view with the Old
OS Map allows you to detect some of the old field boundaries in the large
modern fields.)

Regards
Elmo.
